To Shampoo or Not Shampoo. That is the Question

Recently one of my roommates friends who is also natural was shocked to hear that I use shampoo. She said that shampoo contains sulfate which damages natural hair. But then I think to myself *How am I supposed to clean my hair?!*

Plus on other blogs I hear of people using shampoo and their hair looks perfectly fine.

What do you all think? Do you shampoo or not?

  1. I use shampoo although now that I've checked the ingredients of both my giovanni and shea moisture shampoo both say sulfate free. I didn't know this when I brought them. So I guess I didn't care either way. lol. I say whatever works best for your hair.

  4. They say that Sulfate strips your hair of moisture..I don't know if that counts everyone, but I've noticed a big difference in how my hair feels after a shampoo w/out sulfate. I think sulfate is common in most bath soaps and dishwashing liquid. It gives things that "squeaky" clean feel..lol thats exactly how my hair would feel after using a shampoo that contained sulfate. since i've been using sulfate-free shampoo ive noticed that my hair actually feels conditioned in a sense before i put conditioner in my hair..But everyone's hair is diff. if it doesn't dry your hair out,i say stick with it.
